In the early days, companies decided to have a web site because they felt they needed one and they filled it with as much information as possible. Truth is most people won’t bother to read it all.

6. Check Spelling.
Again this may seem like an obvious point but it is vital you get a second pair of eyes to read over copy and check it reads well and is spelt correctly. Spelling mistakes give bad first impressions of a company so simply take care check, recheck and recheck again.

If you use the wrong type of bait for fishing you won’t catch many fish….this same analogy applies to your landing page. The landing page essentially needs to be a choicy piece of bait in order to reel in users. An impressive landing page should build anticipation for when the site finally arrives and give the user a reason to come back. Recently we have dealt with several landing pages on sites like appointmentrooms.com and have developed a set of rules to give your site the best chance of success when it goes live. Another thing you should try to avoid is the clichéd under construction title accompanied by builder hat and construction sign imagery…this impresses no one.

Internet Explorer 8: New Kid on the block.

Well it seems that Microsoft has done it again. They have released another new piece of software meaning us developers have to rethink how we do things. They did it with Windows Vista, Microsoft Office 2007, Microsoft Server 2008 and now Internet Explorer 8 joins the crew.

I remember when Mozilla overtook Microsoft in usage statistics with the release of Firefox 2.0. Faster browsing, a nicer user interface, a cool name, the works. Firefox 2.0 did everything you wished Internet Explorer (version 6 at the time) did and more. As Firefox grew bigger and bigger, Microsoft frantically began working on Internet Explorer 7 in an attempt to catch up. (more…)
